Postural Restoration: Transform Your Health and Performance

Postural Restoration/PRI serves as the architect, redrawing your postural blueprint so gravity works for you. On the other hand, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization/DNS acts as the essential software update, reinstating the primal movement code inherent in every human. Together, they facilitate health recovery, transforming your ability to move from merely 'getting by' to functioning as you were designed to—experiencing pain-free motion, improved posture, and the power to be ready for anything.

Bonnie's Story

When I found Beth, I could barely walk. Years of hypermobility and unintentional joint misuse had taken a toll on my body. After teaching yoga for over 20 years, I was no longer able to practice it myself. I couldn’t enjoy walks with friends, stand to cook my favorite meals, or even consider yoga. I felt like I was barely functioning.

As a dancer, yoga teacher, and massage therapist, I had never learned to protect my hyper-flexible joints—and it cost me dearly.

Beth introduced me to dynamic neuromuscular stabilization techniques that made a significant difference right from our first conversation. She provided me with invaluable support before we even met in person. Thanks to her expertise, I’m reclaiming my body and my life. Many others had only managed my symptoms, but I needed more than that. I was accustomed to a high-performing body that supported a vibrant life, and I was determined to get it back. Settling was never an option—and now I don’t have to.

Beth has set me on a firm path to health recovery. My body functions much better now and continues to improve daily under her guidance. Most importantly, I’m returning to my life—and it’s even better than before. I now have a posture improvement that is stronger than I have ever experienced, providing a solid foundation for me to rebuild everything. I move through life, both literally and figuratively, with newfound confidence.

Thank you, Beth!

Starting Point - The Assessment

Before initiating any exercise, we assessed Bonnie's asymmetries. Through the lens of PRI, we recognized her posture pattern—often seen in women who have experienced childbirth and those with hypermobility—characterized by a pelvis excessively forward-tilted on both sides, flared ribs, and misalignment in her diaphragm and pelvic floor. Dynamic neuromuscular stabilization techniques confirmed weak reflexive core activation: her pelvic floor and abs were not firing in sync, causing her joints to 'slip' under load. This issue was intensified by her hypermobility, as her flexible ligaments struggled to compensate for poor positioning.

Key Insight: We moved away from generic stretches, emphasizing repositioning over lengthening to foster posture improvement and create neutral zones where her body could effectively support her health recovery.

Phase 1: Neutral Reset (Weeks 1-4) – From Survival to Stability

Focus: Reposition the foundation so breathing and posture improvement become effortless. Bonnie started with 10-15 minutes daily, guided by short video demos and check-ins that supported her health recovery journey.

PRI Tools: Pelvis Repositioning 90/90 position: Lying on her back, knees bent at 90 degrees (feet on wall), she exhaled into a balloon to draw her ribs down and achieve a neutral pelvis. This technique helped 'unzip' her over-lengthened abdominal muscles, repositioning the pelvis to a normal alignment and easing low-back collapse.

Additional muscles activated: Hamstrings, Adductors, and Hip Internal Rotators.

DNS Integration: Prone 0 to 3 months breathing exercises were used to activate the deep abdominal wall. Supine developmental positions, like the 3-month-old roll, reawakened diaphragm-led core pressure—encouraging her to breathe into her low belly rather than her neck.

Bonnie's Wins: By week 3, she could walk short distances comfortably and no longer feared grocery shopping. Walks with friends? Back on the calendar! "I felt my ribs stack over my pelvis for the first time—like my skeleton was finally on my side."

Phase 2: Build Stability (Weeks 5-12) – Joints That Hold, Moves That Flow

With her initial posture pattern having both hips too far forward, we focused on resolving the underlying Left AIC pattern that preceded her issues. Our sessions increased to 20 minutes, 4-5 times a week, with progress in health recovery tracked through self posture checks using clothing alignment cues.

To enhance her dynamic neuromuscular stabilization, we employed several PRI tools:

- Alternating Reach & Turn: While standing, she reached with the opposite arm and leg, maintaining pelvic neutrality, which taught her brain a reciprocal gait without the old 'yoga sway.'

- Wall-Supported Squat with Left Turn: This exercise was designed to integrate ribcage rotation and prevent shoulder slips during reaches.

- DNS Integration: We transitioned from a prone bear position into a squat, activating her pelvic floor first for better intra-abdominal pressure. This approach rebuilt her 'primal core,' allowing her abs to support her without the crunching that had previously strained her lax SI joint.

Bonnie's wins since our collaboration have been remarkable: she now cooks full meals standing tall, enjoys short yoga flows at home safely—no more hyper-extending her spine. She's also able to walk pain-free and notices significant posture improvement: 'Shoulders back, but relaxed. I look taller—and feel unbreakable.'

Phase 3: Unlock Power (Month 4+) – Life, Amplified

Maintenance mode: Embed these into her routine for automaticity. Weekly tweaks via WhatsApp ensured continued progress in her health recovery.

PRI + dynamic neuromuscular stabilization Fusion: Full sequences like DNS squat-to-stand, incorporating PRI's neck and spine repositioning (e.g., cranial-cervical repositioning). We phased in her return to yoga practice with modified poses that honored her new neutral, supported by the return of her abdominal strength and natural pressure.

Ongoing Support: Monthly check-ins and a 'toolbox' of her exercise videos and daily reminders prevented backsliding (e.g., walking with proper arm swing and sitting with the right knee forward, alongside using a small folded towel under the right side low back while traveling).

Bonnie's Wins: Back yoga practice—not just teaching, but practicing with confidence. Posture improvement? "Stronger than my entire life." She moves with the vitality of a 30-year-old, enjoys social outings, gourmet cooking—all without bracing for pain. "I got my life back better. No settling."
